We look after websites for a living
200 Online is the dashboard we built to look after our own clients' websites. Now any agency or freelancer can use it too.
Why 200 Online exists
Looking after client websites is mostly invisible work, right up until something breaks. A plugin update takes a shop offline on a Friday. A client phones at 07:40 to say their site is down, and you find out at the same moment they do. Hosting logins live in a spreadsheet, and the hours you spent fixing things live in your head.
We ran into all of it while looking after around 100 client websites, most of them on WordPress. The tools we tried each did one part: uptime in one place, updates in another, logins in a third, time tracking in a fourth. None of them were built for the way an agency actually works, with a client attached to every site.
So we built one dashboard where every client site has a single card: its uptime, its incidents, its pending updates, its logins, its tasks and the hours spent on it. That's 200 Online. The name comes from 200 OK, the code a healthy website sends back.
What we believe
- An alert should mean something. Many "your site is down" alerts are a firewall blocking the monitor, not a broken site. We show you why every check failed, so a red light is worth getting up for.
- Client logins deserve better than a spreadsheet. Credentials are encrypted with AES-256 before they're stored, the dashboard locks behind a PIN when you step away, and two-factor login is available on every account.
- Risky changes need a person watching. We update plugins and themes from the dashboard, but we deliberately leave WordPress core updates to wp-admin, where someone can see what's happening.
- Pricing should make sense here. We're based in South Africa and price in rand. You can monitor five sites free for as long as you like.
- Your clients should hear it from you. Downtime alerts can go to your client as well as to you, so they know you were on it before they noticed.
Who's behind it
Jordan Sutherland
Jordan builds and looks after websites for businesses in South Africa, and keeps around 100 client sites running day to day, most of them on WordPress. 200 Online is the dashboard Jordan built for that job: knowing the moment a site goes down, keeping every site updated, and billing for the time it takes.
Jordan writes the 200 Online guides from that same day-to-day work.
